Street Food in the Peaks – some dates for your diary

This summer, we’re planning something really exciting, and we’re keen to share it with you. On fortnightly Thursday nights starting from 21st June, you’ll be able to join us at the Club for some (hopefully) alfresco drinks and eats from our Kitchen teams travels. The 21st June marks summer solstice, the ‘official start of summer’, which we’re celebrating in true Club style. Our brilliant kitchen team have teamed up with some wonderful local suppliers to bring you hearty and flavoursome street food in the great outdoors. See more here.

Our lovely garden has had a bit of a re-jig, and it’s waiting to welcome you all! Pull up a beanbag, lounge on blankets on the grass as you enjoy a cocktail – or jump straight on to one of our tables on the terrace or patio to tuck in. We’ll be firing up the grill and cooking up a storm, offering the best flavours from Greece and Zanzibar. These culinary delights are inspired by our well-travelled kitchen staff’s awesome adventures – here’s what’s in store:

Zanzibar StrEAT and bEATS: July 5th / 2nd Aug / 30th Aug

Kitchen mastermind Melvin (of naughty brownies fame!) brings his passion for East Africa quite literally to the table. Expect Zanzibari treats like chicken, veggie or forodhani seafood chapatti wraps, cassava chips, fresh salads and tropical puds galore. “Asiye kuwapo na lake halipo” – if you are absent you lose your share!

Greek StrEAT: July 19th / Aug 16th / Sep 13th

Simon and Lucy have enjoyed some truly gorgeous hols in Greece, so on these dates we’ll be transporting you to the the mediterranean (hopefully the weather plays along). Tender lamb from local suppliers Highcliffe Hebrideans (see more here)  will be served as gyros with plenty of punchy tzatziki,  with a veggie option made with marinated feta and fried spinach. Kαλή όρεξη !  There will also be a mezze menu if you fancy kicking off the evening with small sharing plates of garides (prawns flambeed in ouzo and a touch of chilli), Greek salad, gigantes or Kefthedes.

We’re feeling optimistic about the weather, but if it doesn’t cooperate (stranger things have happened), our usual cosy tables will be available inside, looking out to the garden. If you’re a group of six or more, we’re happy to reserve you a spot, so give us a ring or drop us an email. We’ll also be getting the bunting out for our final Big StrEAT Party on Thursday 27th September. See you there!

Love, the Club xx
